We are very pleased you’re considering online middle or high school, and we invite you to fully explore all that we have to offer here at Sterling Academy.
Some of the things that distinguish Sterling Academy permeate all our programs, because they’re based on our philosophy of helping each student achieve the best possible education. Our students and their parents especially appreciate these features, and we think you will, too:
Our middle school serves students in grades 6 to 8. Middle school students must take four classes per year in core subjects, but may take a total of two more classes. As an elective, we offer a career exploration course geared specifically for middle school. Middle school students may also take high school electives and apply the credit(s) earned toward high school graduation from Sterling Academy.
Our high school offers core courses in English, math, social studies, and science as well as fine arts, physical education, and numerous electives (see below). We strongly recommend students also study a world language. At Sterling Academy, two semesters of a course equal one credit, and students must have at least 24 credits with a minimum 2.0 GPA to graduate.
You’ll find no shortage of interesting elective courses at Sterling Academy, in world languages, digital arts, technology and computer science, engineering, health sciences, Bible, and business. Our electives enable students to build a great high school resume, follow a particular subject area of interest, or investigate career fields and perhaps discover a new exciting field to pursue.
Quality education starts with quality curriculum. At Sterling Academy, we are proud to use Edgenuity for our core subjects curriculum, an outstanding curriculum we believe is the best available. Edgenuity has benefited a half-million students at 7000 sites throughout all 50 states and is used by nine of the nation’s 15 largest school districts. Most of our electives come from eDynamic Learning, which provides a wide variety of choices for courses in subjects like digital arts and engineering, as well as core subject area electives, such as African-American History or Marine Science.
These dedicated individuals make Sterling Academy a true stand-out when it comes to online education. Our program isn’t just about curriculum and credits, because any program’s effectiveness also depends on the people administering it. And formal classrooms or not, it takes knowledgeable, caring teachers to bring out the best in each student. Nobody beats our team.
