That includes using videos and interactive activities as well as more traditional study techniques. At Sterling Academy, one course credit is equivalent to two semesters of study in a subject. Traditional special education schools typically cannot offer the range of electives you’ll find at Sterling Academy. Your student can supplement required core learning with classes from world languages to digital arts, to personalize their academic journey. Our coursework is delivered in a variety of formats, too. Learning is more appealing because it’s more relevant.

The years between grade school and high school are crucial for student success. At Sterling Academy, your child will get as much support as they need to master facts and concepts, because our teachers have flexibility to schedule one-on-one consultation sessions with students.

For our core courses, we proudly use Edgenuity online exceptional students curriculum, a program used in all 50 states by both public and private schools and other top rate online special education curriculum. Core curriculum for the special education school years includes language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies.. 

We take full advantage of online technology to deliver more diverse, more relevant and more engaging learning opportunities specifically designed to interest and motivate special education school students. Courses may include video, audio and interactive activities as well as more traditional reading and writing assignments.

ELECTIVES THAT OPEN DOORS

Although our special education school students only have to take the minimum 4 classes each year, our tuition covers up to 6 classes. That means students may take one or two electives in addition to their core classes. That could be technology or some other fun, interesting, relevant class – photography, game design, a foreign language – we offer an amazing selection of elective classes you’d be hard-pressed to find at a traditional high school.  Most of our elective courses are from Edgenuty and eDynamic Learning.

Sterling Academy offers K-5, middle school and high school-level electives. Any high school electives taken in middle school will earn high school credits. Your child can get a head start on graduation, begin investigating potential career fields or simply feed a personal interest.

 

FULL OR PART-TIME  

You child may attend Sterling Academy as a full-time middle school student. We also welcome part-time students who wish to take electives or other courses their school does not offer. Because we are a regionally accredited school, you can easily transfer the credits you earn back to your regular school.

EASY TO ENROLL

Whether you want to register your child as a full- or part-time student, you may enroll them with Sterling Academy at any time and they can begin their studies. It just takes a few minutes to start the ball rolling on their new academic future.

WORLD LANGUAGES

Why wait till high school to start learning a foreign language? Taking two years of the same language as a Sterling Academy middle schooler earns one high school credit, so you can begin high school at Sterling Academy as a second-year student in that same language. Middle school students can take Chinese, Latin, German, French, or Latin.
