Bullying At School – There is a Solution

Posted by Carol Moser on Nov 27, 2013 4:50:00 PM

I talk to at least one parent every day whose child is a victim of bullying at school. I’ve heard countless stories of parents going to their child’s school for help, only to be told there is nothing they can do. I’ve cried on the phone with numerous parents wondering what I would do in their situation.

Parents and students seem to find me, the enrollment counselor for an online middle and high school, out of desperation as a last resort. A child who is being bullied at school seems to fall into one of three categories -- some experience all three: They have become withdrawn and have lost interest in school, they are ill, or they suffer from depression and anxiety. The stories are the same all across the country, because bullying in school is now a national epidemic.

The parent of a child being bullied at school is put into an unbearable situation. In most cases the school can’t protect students or keep them safe from the bullying and threats, but the parent is still expected to send their child to school anyway.

Bullying at school and truancy also seem to go hand in hand. Facing another day of being bullied is the last thing the student wants to experience, but the parent may be receiving truancy letters from the school threatening fines and/or jail if the student misses any more school. It’s often about this time that either the parent or student finds our school.

I love being able to share with a family that they can enroll in our online school today, and their child will never have to face another day of bullying at school. If you or someone you love is experiencing bullying at school, please know that you do have options. More parents every day are finding our online middle and high school to be the perfect solution. Bullying at school is the number one reason parents enroll their children in our online middle and high school.
